Direct Connection

Connect your extender to WiFi directly — WPS, app or cable

If you do not want to use the browser wizard, these three methods link the extender to your router in a couple of minutes.

Ask a specialist

Method 1 — WPS button pairing (fastest)

  1. 01Plug the extender in within 3 metres of the router and wait for a steady power LED.
  2. 02Press the WPS button on the extender for 2-3 seconds.
  3. 03Within two minutes, press the WPS button on the router.
  4. 04Wait up to 2 minutes: the link LED turns solid when pairing succeeds.
  5. 05For dual band routers, repeat the pairing once for 2.4 GHz and once for 5 GHz.
  6. 06Unplug and move the extender to its final position.

Method 2 — Manufacturer mobile app

  1. 01Install the brand's official app from the Play Store or App Store only.
  2. 02Connect the phone to the extender's temporary setup network.
  3. 03Open the app, choose 'Add / Set up new device' and pick range extender mode.
  4. 04Select your home WiFi, enter the password and confirm the extended network name.
  5. 05Allow local network permission so the app can discover the device.

Method 3 — Wired (Access Point) setup

  1. 01Run an Ethernet cable from a free router LAN port to the extender's Ethernet port.
  2. 02Switch the extender to Access Point / AP mode if it has a mode selector.
  3. 03Open the admin page and set a network name and WPA2/WPA3 password.
  4. 04This gives the most stable speed as the backhaul is not sharing WiFi airtime.

How to connect your devices to the extended network

Once the extender is online, your phones, laptops, TVs and printers need to join the correct network.

  • Open WiFi settings and pick the extended SSID (the one ending with _EXT if you kept a separate name).
  • Use the same password as your main WiFi unless you changed it during setup.
  • For smart home gadgets and printers, choose the 2.4 GHz network — most of them do not support 5 GHz.
  • If you kept a single SSID, forget the network once on each device so it re-picks the strongest signal.
  • Restart the device after joining if it shows 'connected, no internet'.

When you should avoid WPS

WPS is convenient but it is disabled on many modern routers for security reasons, and some ISP routers never supported the push-button method. Use the manual browser setup instead if: your router has no WPS button, WPS is switched off in the router panel, your network uses WPA3 only, or pairing fails twice in a row. Manual setup gives you full control over band selection and the extended network name.
